Soccer Missions Trip to South Africa

Donation protected

I am finally graduated from high school and looking forward to attending Mississippi State University in the fall! As I make my way towards becoming an independent student, I look for guidance from God. Recently, at church I read about a mission trip to South Africa that I believe will be a great opportunity to serve God and others before heading off to college.

The mission trip is a partnership with Westside Family Church and Oceans of Mercy. It is called Defined and will be in July 14-Aug 2,2013. This trip was created with a very distinct purpose -- journey into true identity in Christ, through soccer. The trip will include coaching and mentoring children and teens in a dozen villages in South Africa, getting them "ready" for a big tournament, as we help them discover their value and worth in Christ, along the way. These villages will then compete against one another in an inter-village tournament, followed by a large celebration uniting the villages and providing an awesome opportunity to share Jesus with the families.

The trip starts in the Limpopo Province in Northern South Africa. Moves through the Kwazulu Natal Province en route to the Eastern Cape Province to an area known as Transkei and then ending in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan District known as Port Elizabeth.

As a soccer player, I understand the value of coaches who pour themselves into their players. This trip is an opportunity for me to use what the Lord has taught me spiritually and what the coaches have taught me physically, to pour into the lives of orphans and vulnerable teens. I'm really excited because I feel like the Lord has prepared me for this opportunity, at this time.

The cost of this trip is $3,000. I am using my graduation money as well as putting in as many hours as I can at my job. While I hate to send out support letters, I am in need of all my funds by June 14. If God lays it on your heart to partner with me, I would be so grateful. There's no doubt in my mind that there will be kids and teens who will discover a relationship with Christ through our ministry, made possible through your giving.

If you are unable to partner with me financially please partner with me through prayer. Please pray for the hearts of the children and families we will be ministering too, along with the 30 team members that will be travelling on this mission trip.

Contributions for my trip can be made through a check made out to Westside Family Church and mailed to my home address 11960 S Clinton St, Olathe, KS 66061.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Much love,
