Help for Cancer pills for dad

Last week my mom had to pay 2,000 out of pocket for a new chemotherapy prescription for my dad's luekemia.  The VA would not cover it until they could see him in person which couldn't happen due to my dad's condition and hospitalization.  My mom now has lost all income from my father and has looking medical bills that she is unsure the VA will cover based on the same criteria.  Any help I could give her to cover some of this would be greatly appreciated.
