UM Students > Fossil Fuels

Donation protected
Reinvest Montana is a group of student activists at the University of Montana committed to divestment from fossil fuels. We urge the UM Foundation, which manages the UM endowment, to divest from fossil fuel investments and reinvest that money in community-owned sustainable energy.

We have worked for the last three years to encourage the UMF to divest. During this time, we exhausted all institutional channels.  Now, escalation is neccessary.
Mack Clapp, the chair of the UMF investment committee, has the power to call for divestment right now, and yet it hasn't happened. Climate change is not an issue that we can wait on. We need action, and we need it now. Mack Clapp has the choice between siding with the industry creating the climate crisis students will inherit, or standing on the right side of history -- with the just and stable future students demand.

UM students are taking a stand.  We aim to prove our commitment to divestment to the UM Foundation and our campus community at large.  Students deserve a say in our future, and we will be heard.

You can be a part of Reinvest's mission and support our efforts for a sustainable, just, and stable future.  Your contribution is an essential part of our successful action.  Thank you, from Reinvest members and the University of Montana community.
