Hello Friends,
As some of you know I recently applied to a post graduate program in London. This is through the Mountbatten Institute and I am pursuing a postgraduate degree in International business.
The program includes:
1 year long internship at a prominent investment banking firm - I have been place as a Business Analyst at UBS AG Investment Bank
Housing provided by the host company
Education Portion - Managerial Accounting and Finance, Organizational Behavior and Leadership, and Global Business.
As well as a living stipend ( covered by the participation fee)
My reason for going:
I have always had the passion for international business. I love to travel and learn about new people and new culture. I studied abroad in Manchester, England and it fueled my desire to work in the UK for a period of time. Studying and working in the UK is a great starter country to gain experience in working abroad. There isn't a language barrier ,depending on the speed of the conversation ;), so it is easier to learn and ask questions. This program is a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain international business experience at the beginning of my career and bring back best practices to the U.S. There is a whole world out there with a bounty of knowledge and I want to see it, experience it, and share it with others. I took a risk to really find an opportunity that I could truly be excited about and not settle on comfort. That left me with no set postgraduate plans and for a business student at UIUC that's a big deal. I found this opportunity at the Mountbatten Institute and felt like the Lord was telling me here is your opportunity go for it. I was afraid at first to leave the country again and embark on this adventure so I prayed hard. I felt the Lord say that the only thing worse than the fear of leaving is the comfortability of staying. So here I am pursuing a dream of mine and leaving my comfort zone. The process has not been easy and now I am asking for the help of my loving community to help me get to England to pursue my dream.
Why do I need funding assistance?:
Since this program is in London I do not qualify for FAFSA. Since the timing from application to acceptance was so short and late I didn't have the chance to apply for scholarships that would fund this type of endeavor. The quest for private loans is coming up short. My summer jobs will take care of my flight and first month's living but I need help with the participation fee (tuition).
So I am humbly asking for help. Please help me go to London. I thank you in advance.
