A new bean for Henry

It's hard to believe but our 2-year-old son needs a new kidney (bean). With your help, we want to help pay for any expenses a donor will have for donating their kidney.

Henry, our first child, was born in July 2021. But a dark cloud hung over this joyful day. Lisa and I found out during her pregnancy that Henry's kidneys didn't develop normally. We hoped they would function well enough to keep him healthy but after a few months of struggling they gave up. After only 6 months of life, when most parents are getting excited about their child starting to crawl or getting their first teeth, we were struggling to accept the reality that our precious baby Henry was starting dialysis.

Through a lot of hard work, patience, tears, and long dialysis sessions we have kept Henry healthy and happy. We have received incredible care from both BC's and Alberta's health care systems and support from charity organizations like Ronald McDonald House and Bear Essentials.

The only way to get Henry off 4 days a week of dialysis is a kidney transplant.

Thanks to our (mostly my love Lisa's) hard work Henry is growing quickly almost big enough to get a kidney! A kidney would mean a whole new life for him. A life where he gets to live more like a normal little boy and not be tied to a dialysis machine.

We started this donation page to help us pay for any un-covered expenses for the kidney donor (including post-op medications, travel, living expenses, etc.) and the ongoing costs of care for Henry that aren't covered by the medical system or our insurance providers.

Finally, unfortunately, Lisa was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The surgery went well and we're hopeful that was the last we'll see of cancer but Lisa has several years of treatment ahead of her so once we've covered Henry's expenses some may be used to assist with Lisa's needs.

Any additional funds will be donated to organizations or charities that support organ donation, kidney disease, cancer research, and/or to the Ronald McDonald House.
