Jeff's Message to all that want to help: Here is how you can help:
There are hundreds of you that have sent your condolences without knowing even who we are. There are hundreds that have done the same that do know us.
There are many of you who knew us that we didn't know. There are many of you that I know I've barely kept in touch with, but remember good times.
There are so many who knew us well enough to be hit just as hard as we were.
My heart breaks for all of you you want to help and so far haven't felt able to. Believe me, I know how it feels to feel helpless in the midst of it. So if any of YOU needs someone to seriously talk to, don't be afraid to reach out. I do know what you're going through.
I'm not the kind of guy to really ask for help. I've always felt that I've needed to earn my keep; as Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 2:9 "Don't you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God's Good News to you." While I feel like I've gone and done a poor job of being a living testimony to God's love and grace, I've done my best to never be a burden to anyone and always managing to support myself.
Many of you have offered help in many ways, and I thank you all. Much will be needed as I will at some point have to go back to work, and Amanda will be in a cast and sling for probably 6-8 weeks.
I don't feel that anything I've ever done in my life, either singly or all put together, has given me any right to ask favors of anyone; least of all a large group of people - some of whom I may not know at all - even if they've offered anything to help.
One of my wife's best friends moved to Minnesota from Berwick, and because of various things, is unable to afford to come. She has two daughters that were best friends of my three.
We are looking at services on either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week for the girls. That's not much time, but if there was a way that Jodi Ann Wiggin could be made able to get from Red Wing, Minnesota back to little old Berwick in time, it would be one of the greatest ways to support us (my wife especially) through this.
