Hello Everyone,
Only a few of you know what's been going on with me lately, mostly because I choose to keep my issues to myself and rarely ask for help unless absolutely necessary. I'm the one everyone else comes to for help and I like it that way!
Everyone has their bad times, this is mine. I was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 Cervical Cancer for the second time in my life and am in need of what's known as an Endometrial Ablation.
I do have insurance, however the catch is I was hit by a surprise lay-off on 4/30 resulting in my insurance only being good through 5/31. The doctors want my deductible and my 20% portion on the day of surgery which is scheduled May 29th.
This is the first step of what might turn out to be a long road as I opted not to go with the hysterectomy as I am unable to deal with the recovery time of 3-5 weeks due to my 4 children (have to keep working!) and having moved right before the surprise lay-off, all my current income (got a new job about 2 weeks after the lay off) is going towards incurred moving expenses to keep a roof over our head and everyday living expenses. My doctors assure me the ablation is a good option due to the success rate with the early stage cancers and the recovery time is minimal. Which means no time off from my new job, which is a godsend in itself.
If I could just wait on this procedure and there was not a time limitation I would do so, however with the insurance running out, the new job not offering insurance and COBRA being so expensive topped by the risk of waiting and having the cancer worsen or spread I have completely run out of options other than to ask my friends and family for a donation. Any little bit helps and I am forever in your gratitude.
