"3030 E. Crown Street" - The Play - Stage Reading

Hello,
My name is Jeffrey Lee Cheatham II, and I am fundraising to produce my first stage play, "3030 E. Crown Street" at Langston Hughes Performance Arts Institute in Seattle, WA on September 24th, 2022.

"3030 E. Crown Street" is a story about Lamont "L-Jay" Judge, confronting a family tragedy, after he discovers that his childhood home is for sale.

"3030 E. Crown Street" touches on the themes of grief, family, and the impact they have on our choices later in life.

I am a childrens book writer. I started publishing childrens books in 2014. I was introduced to theatre in 2017, when I participated in the stage reading performance, "Every 28 hours." at Langston Hughes. I wrote "3030 E. Crown Street" in 2020, when I drove past my "Big Momma's House" during the pandemic. I was hit with nostalgic moments of family dinners, fun times with my cousins, and the joy of my family being together.

Those memories inspired me to tell this story because I continue to deal with the emotional impact that the loss of Big Momma's house has had on my life. I hope that the play creates conversations amongst people in my community about addressing lingering issues before a major decision is made.

The funds will be used to pay the actors, the production items, and production crew needed to bring this play to life.

Thank you so much for your time and thank you for reading.
