Eviction Prevention

Hello, my name is Jared and I’m a 23 year-old graduate student studying to attain my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Pratt Institute in their Writing and Activism program. After a stellar first year, where I was able to achieve a 4.0 GPA and create some great writing, I find myself struggling to survive the summer to make it to my second year—financially. I've finally found a job, but not soon enough which has led to rent and other bills being late, with June shaping up to be a troubling retread of May. Unfortunately, the Writing & Activism program is not fully funded and since mid-April I’ve been trying to secure a job, after exhausting my financial aid for the remainder of the semester.  A court date for my eviction  has been scheduledfor June 30th,  since the legal fees have already been filed against me for May’s late rent. I honestly don’t mean to ask for so much but I wouldn’t be on here if I truly didn’t need the help. I just want to be able to make it to my second and final year of this MFA program while still living in my apartment and being able to eat.  But at the end of the day, it’s all a timing thing. I may have found a job and be able support myself while going to school like before but just not quick enough by myself to prevent my eviction at this moment in time. Again, I hate to ask for so much but the amount would cover May and June’s rent and allow me to go grocery shopping, something I haven't been able to do since April. The remaining bills will just have to be late and I’ll get to them once I have a job; they’re not as important to me as keeping a roof over my head and food on my table are. It’d be ideal to have reached the goal amount by June 15th, but I’m not going to rush or put a cap on people’s care, generosity, and kindness because I know you all have your own struggles to attend to. Donate if you can, share regardless, and any words of positivity you can offer me would really help. I’m so tired and exhausted by this situation I find myself in. Giving up isn’t an option but some days it’s more difficult to keep up that morale than others. I’m doing what I can to make the best of a bad situation so at the end of the day, eviction or no eviction, you’ll probably end up reading about this in a book somewhere that has been written by a very humble author. Positive thoughts! Thank you all for everything.
