Beschermde donatie
As many of you know, Frank was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer on May 8, 2013. Since then, Frank has had many ups and downs. He has gone through a 6-week course of radiation and chemotherapy, which has caused burns in his esophagus and resulted in significant weight loss. These side effects are in addition to the expected pain, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting which often accompany chemotherapy. The treatment of Frank's cancer has been further complicated by his existing diagnosis of juvenile diabetes and the attention to diet it requires.
This fund has been created to help Frank and his family pay his medical bills, insurance, and other household costs. Until recently, Frank continued to go to work every day after receiving his radiation. He even worked on Saturdays to get in a few more hours. Unfortunately, the cancer has now spread to his brain, making it impossible for him to work. With two children to support, the family's financial situation is dire.
If you are reading this description, you know Frank through church, work, family, or friendship. To know Frank is to love him. He is honest, loyal, hardworking, and supportive. He would never ask for a handout, and that's why we're doing it for him. But right now, Frank needs all the help he can get. Any little bit that you can give to keep Frank and his family going would be appreciated. Even if you can't give anything, please pray. Thank you for your generosity and thoughts. - friends of frank
UPDATE:
First off, THANK YOU for your generous gifts! We are so lucky to have you as friends!
Since the last website update there has been both good news and bad news on Frank's health. During November Frank was told that he was in remission since his tumors had not grown since the last scan! It was a very happy day for all of us and we were able to enjoy the holidays with a hopeful spirit.
However, his past week Frank recieved a litle more good and some bad news in response to his most recent PET scan. Good News: The tumor in his lung and previous tumor in his brain are essentially "dead"! The bad news is that a tumor on his adrenal glands that we hoped was benign is, in fact, cancerous. In addition, there is a malignant tumor about one inch in size in his scull.
Next week Frank will udergo another Gamma knife procedure or local radiation to the lesion in his scull. He will start more chemotherapy shortly following the radiation to start fighting the tumor on his adrenal gland. Some of the tumor will also be sent off for analysis to attempt a more targeted approcoach; creating a medication that works specifically against these tumor cells.
We are very hopeful about these upcoming procedures and know that Frank is more ready than ever to fight against this cancer!
On May 8, 2014 It will have been one year since Frank was diagnosed with lung cancer. We are thankful for every laugh, glance, hug and moment with Frank. But, perhaps selfishly, we want much much more of him! With your help and prayers we know that it is possible! To that end, we once again humbly ask for your asisstance and prayers to support Frank in his upcoming battles. Thank you again and God Bless you,
