This fundraising is for young human rights defensor Pedro Aguilar who is a resident of Mexico, and has as a goal to get him the leg prosthesis that he urgently needs.
Unfortunatly there are many cases like his and organizations in Mexico are doing their best to help, but the funds are just not enough.
Let´s get together helping him to walk to tell his story, visibilizing this tragedy and fighting the urgent concern of human right violations against undocumented migrants worldwide.
This is his story:
In may 2012 Pedro Aguilar, then 22 decided to leave his town of Yoro, Honduras in order to reach the dream of a better life and future in the United States. When reaching the traintracks of southern Mexico he got threathened by members of organized crime that specifically target vulnerable migrants (that Amnesty International has deemed "the invisibles"). In a hurry to get away from them Pedro jumped aboard the rapidly passing cargotrain known as "La Bestia" - The Beast - which is the only means of transport for poor Central American migrants trying to reach the United States. This particular evening the train was passing by more rapidly - although it is well known that hundreds of migrants, young men, women and children board the train on a daily basis. Pedro could not predict that at this particular instance he had no chance. But with a rapidly beating heart, with fear after being threathened, and with a dream on his mind, Pedro jumped to catch the train. However the force of "La Bestia" pulled him in, and he woke up the next day with his dreams shattered.
He is a huge fan of soccer "I eat, dream and live soccer" he says, he loves bachata dancing and has moreover always dreamt of a life working with plants, nature and/or animals. But all that changed for him at that instance. Help him not only regain his dreams but to tell his story, defending other victims of tougher border control and its transnational dimension.
Pedro is an important member of the Caravan for Hope 2013, organized by the International Humanitarian Pro-Immigrant Coalition in cooperation with Hermanos en el Camino and led by world renowned human righs defensor Padre Alejandro Solalinde.

Esta recaudación es para el joven defensor de derechos humanos, Pedro Aguilar residente de México. El objetivo es ayudarle a conseguir la prótesis de pierna que tanto necesita. Desafortunadamente hay muchos casos como el de Pedro, organizaciones civiles están haciendo lo que pueden para apoyarle en volver a una vida digna, pero los fondos para prótesis no son suficientes. Juntémonos para ayudar a Pedro caminar y contar su historia, asà visibilizando esta tragedia y luchando contra la apremiante problemática de violaciones contra los derechos humanos de migrantes indocumentados en todo el mundo!

En mayo de 2012, Pedro Aguilar de 22 años decidió dejar la ciudad de Yoro, Honduras para alcanzar el sueño de una vida (su "american dream") y lograr un futuro mejor en Estados Unidos. Llegando a las vÃas en el centro de México fue amenazado por miembros del crimen organizado que especÃficamente usan como blancos a los migrantes Centro Americanos necesitados en su camino a Estados Unidos.
Esa noche el tren pasaba más rápido "“ aunque conocen que cientos de migrantes, hombres jóvenes, mujeres y nin@s abordan el tren diariamente. Pedro no podÃa prever que en ese instante no habÃa manera para el subirse de forma segura. Pero con un corazón que latÃa rápido, con miedo después de las amenazas y con su sueño en la mente, Pedro saltó para tomar La Bestia. Pero su fuerza lo atrajo y se despertó al dÃa siguiente con sus sueños rotos.
Es aficionado al fútbol "como, sueño y vivo fútbol" dice. Le encanta bailar bachata y siempre ha soñado de trabajar con plantas, naturaleza y animales. Pero en este instante todo cambió. Ayudémoslo no solo a recuperar sus sueños, también a contar su historia, defendiendo a otras vÃctimas de un control fronterizo más violento y su dimensión transnacional.
Pedro es un miembro importante de la Caravana Abriendo Puertas a La Esperanza, 2013 organizada por la Coalición Humanitaria Internacional Pro-Migrante. La caravana está realizada en cooperación con Hermanos en el Camino y llevada por el internacionalmente reconocido defensor de derechos humanos Padre Alejando Solalinde.
Se parte de esta recaudación y ayuda no solo recolectando dinero para la prótesis de Pedro sino también para hacer visible esta crisis humanitaria.
