Athena’s Fight

My 24 month old niece, Athena from Kuna, Idaho was just diagnosed with stage 3 Wilms cancer.  Doctors found 3 tumors on one of her kidneys last week; therefore her right kidney had to be removed along with the 3 tumors on this past Monday. After further testing Doctors realized that the cancer has spread to her lymph-nodes.  For the next 24 weeks, she will have to undergo aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  Athena’s mom is a single mother of 2 young girls and will be unable to work during the chemo & radiation treatments as she needs to be at the hospital with Athena.  She has no time off or benefits from her job.   Athena’s dad lives and works out of state and also will be taking time off to help with Athena. No one plans for these kinds of catastrophic events, emotionally or financially.  My hope is to raise enough money so that Tawny can be able to be there for her baby daughter during this difficult fight, without having to worry about how to pay the bills. .
