Round 2 With Multiple Sclerosis

Here I am again fighting with symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, the first time since 2008-2009. Back when I was first diagnosed, I was young enough (an poor enough) to qualify for Medicaid, which covered a lot of my diagnostic processes and medicines. Before receiving assistance, I had MRIs taken that cost my parents several thousand dollars, and an extensive workup of my spinal fluid that resulted in a 10,000$ medical bill from the hospital.

During my first attack, I experienced muscle tremors and loss of my vision in my left eye. Luckily, with aggressive treatments, I regained most of my vision back. I was even optimistic that I might have only had a one-time occurrence of MS that went into remission to remain there. Otherwise referred to as a Clinically Isolated Syndrome. (CIS) Suddenly, that doesn't appear to be the case.


Lately I have felt tremors and electrical currents throughout my body whenever I move my neck, and am experiencing dizziness, migraines and numbness in the extremities of my body. I have started to lose balance when upright and have not been able to work at my job, which has been the only thing keeping me financially in control of my expenses. I now have a referral to the same neurologist that diagnosed me several years ago, and due to the time gap, we have to start from scratch. New scans, new tests, and more than likely more medications to help combat whatever's assaulting me from the inside.


With the passing of my mother in 2010, I have attempted to recover in my personal life and support myself without asking for aid from others, but am now looking at the prospect of asking my father for assistance without the support of any medical insurance, and while I am unable to work, I am backsliding on the expenses I was already struggling to maintain.
