This little trooper has a major surgery and his parents need some help to survive while he is getting his operation done in Vancouver in April.
Desten was born with severe cerebral palsy. He has fought and survived SO many battles in his short 11 years of life. Each one landing him in the hospital for weeks to months at a time. During each stay 1 parent has to stay with him at ALL times. Leaving the other one to work, take care of their other child AND maintain the household. This has taken away the ability and time to have both parents maintain full time employment.
Now he needs a spinal fusion surgery, where they place rods and bone grafts in his vertabrae, to help straighten his spine out. It is a lengthy procedure with a hard and courageous recovery, that will take them out of their home in Kelowna and off to stay in Vancouver for 2-3 months, leaving all of their responsibilities of maintaining/paying for their home here, up to draining any savings they have managed to scrape together.
Devlin and Lacey have both worked very hard to make amazing lives for their 2 children. Unfortunately lately, this has included Desten being pulled from school and put into isolation to decrease his chance of sickness so he can even have his operation. The stress/concern of Desten even surviving this surgery alone is more than any parent should handle. Therefore I decided to reach out and see what kind of support I/we can give to ensure that their financial stress load could be lessened. Allowing them to focus on OUR affectionate, strong, amazing angel Desten and reassuring them the comfort of their home will be awaiting them when they return back to their daily lives
