Ethiopia Medical Trip November 2013

In each of the past 3 years I joined International Crisis Aid (www.crisisaid.org) to provide medical care in remote areas of Ethiopia, together with about 30 nurses, physicians and dentists from all over the world. The need is severe; each year we have treated between 4000 and 5000 people in 5 days. This past December (2012) we had to turn away families who had come in the hope they would receive nutritional and medical care for their little ones. Within three days we had to turn away all except the most desperate cases because we ran out of nutritional supplements and the funds to buy more.

Joining a medical team on these types of trips is expensive. Many wonder if the money would not be better spend buying supplies instead of spending it on airfares and accommodation. However, the fact that individuals from Europe and the US come and provide hunger relief and medical care shows people in need that somebody cares and gives them hope.

I would like to go again in November 2013 but unlike other years when I was able to fund the trips myself, this year I need to raise the money. I am forgoing 6 days of pay. Will you help me with the expenses?
