My name is Jimmy Dee Dowsett, in 2001, my life was changed when I was diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

MS is a chronic, unpredictable and disabling neurodegenerative condition that affects the central nervous system; causing motor and sensory problems that vary in severity and frequency. Sometimes the nerve fiber itself is damaged or broken, leaving scar tissue called sclerosis causing symptoms including fatigue, vision impairment, loss of balance or coordination and muscle pain turning simple everyday activities into physically exhausting and painful challenges.

Sadly, this disease stops people from moving and has affected every aspect of my daily life. As the symptoms continue, I struggle with each flare-up. I have learned to deal with symptoms on a day-to-day basis such as chronic fatigue, blurred vision, and numbness, loss of strength, vertigo and headaches. While these have been taking my strength and energy, my determination is stronger than ever to find a way to get better.

Currently there is no cure for MS and for most symptoms have only been managed by medications and healthy living. Approximately half of the individuals diagnosed with MS suffer from a steady worsening of symptoms and numbness.  While new and powerful disease-fighting drugs have been developed to combat these problems; I am not a candidate given my current condition.

Although the medical industry has focused primarily on pharmaceutical treatments for prevention, there are other innovative therapies being tested. I have been relentlessly researching new treatments, and found a remarkable and promising new program. Recently, Montel Williams presented this PoNS device with extraordinary results.  He has dedicated his resources to getting this available to help many.

The Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator (PoNS device) invented by Yury Danilov and since has been developed by University of Wisconsin-Madison Tactile Communication and Neurorehabilitation Lab (TCNL). The PoNS device is being developed as a therapy for the treatment of chronic neurological symptoms in people with MS and other neurological diseases. This non-invasive device is based on the concept that the tongue is a natural, direct pathway to stimulate the brain, as it is rich in nerve fibers and connected by two major cranial nerves to the brainstem. The 14-week trial in Montreal, Canada has had successful results thus far.  A trial process for study is occurring in Canada utilizing the PoNS device.    www.heuro.ca

My goal is to raise $60,000.00 to include the overall expenses of a 14-week PoNS device treatment program; accommodations are also necessary to stay near the site for the duration.  While the journey maybe exhausting, I am armed with determination and enthusiasm to successfully complete this endeavor to recover and restore my strength and abilities.

I believe this is my best opportunity for a successful treatment as this is NOT a drug but a medical device that helps my body HEAL instead of simply suppressing my symptoms.  May this trial go well and inspire others to do the same.

Thank you for your assistance, love and encouragement.

Sincerely Golf,
