Hi guys!
My name is Eddie and I've been battling a type of cancer called synovial sarcoma for a little over 3 years now. When it was first diagnosed, my dad and I had started a fairly successful landscape company and things couldn't have been looking better. However in the late winter of 2011, after having several colds and respiratory infections, the doc wanted a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. What he found however, was a mass the size of a baseball attached to my diaphragm, the bottom of my left lung, and the chest wall. Having started our own business just several short months ago, I hadn't thought about health insurance at the time so this was the biggest shock I had ever had. They got me in to see an oncologist right away, and she is the best! One couldn't ask for a better doc than Dr. Pollard! She and her office helped me apply for and get county aid in the short term until I could get disability insurance through the Social Security Administration. I had several rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and had my left lung removed to halt the cancers progression and it worked for several months, then a few weeks ago, the scans revealed the cancer was back in my left chest cavity with a vengence. More invasive procedures and several more rounds of very aggressive chemo therapy are called for. As we speak I'm taking the first round. Somehow in the mix there got to be a lapse between the Medicare start date and the county aid end date that is going to leave about a month and a half gap in coverages. My prescription drug costs are round $2100.00 per month plus office visits and any other diagnostics that are needed.
