Hi my name is Myra, I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and need to start my treatment very soon.
Myra is a lovely 7 year boxer that likes park runs, beach walks, sleeping, cuddling, playing with other furry friends and making adorable faces. Sadly all of this could change soon.
Myra's mom (Sarah) noticed lumps in Myra's neck on September 14th, 2018. Myra has been subsequently diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma, stage IIIa. This type of lymphoma is very aggressive, and untreated dogs usually succumb to the disease in 4-6 weeks. However, it responds quite well to multi-drug chemotherapy, with 90% of dogs achieving remission within months, and median survival time of 8-12 months. Some dogs remain in remission for 2 years. Myra will be starting treatment on Tuesday, September 24th.
Chemotherapy treatment is very expensive. Sarah was quoted at $5,000 for the full treatment, not including any additional medications, follow up tests, or further diagnostics. Unfortunately, this also comes just after Myra's mom finished paying veterinary and hospital bills for her horse who had an eye issue all summer.
Myra's mom is an animal lover that is always making everyone around her feel better. But right now she is very sad by these news and needs our help to pay the medical costs that Myra requires.

First of all, I'm incredibly humbled and grateful that my friends and colleagues Cris and Hamed from the Koch lab put this GoFundMe page together. Myra means the world to me, and has helped me through so many life transitions and emotional rollercoasters over the past few years. She is the sweetest, goofiest, cuddliest dog I have ever met, and I'm devastated by this diagnosis.
I want to give her the best chance at maintaining her incomparable quality of life and happiness. I owe her this much and so much more so she can continue to bring joy to many more of our lives for months and maybe years to come.
For further incentive, if we reach our fundraising goal, I will run my first half-marathon in the spring (race suggestions welcome) either in honour of Myra or in her memory. Myra has always been my running buddy and I thought this would be a really nice way to celebrate her importance to me.
Should we exceed our fundraising goals or no longer require the full amount, the additional funds will be donated to the Mona Campbell Centre for Animal Cancer at the Ontario Veterinary College where Myra is being treated. Myra is part of two diagnostics-based clinical trials, and I would like to further contribute to the ground-breaking research being done here.
