Ethiopia 2013

A unique opportunity came to me in early May to join my good friend Rich on a trip to Ethiopia in July. Rich has lived and worked in Ethiopia for several years to rescue children from some of the tribes in the southern part of the country, who are put to death based on superstitious beliefs. Often times these children are newborns, believed to be cursed and sentenced to death as soon as they are born.

An orphanage and sponsorship program has been setup in a village a few days journey from the tribes, and an amazing local couple takes these abandoned and rejected children in to give them life and hope.


My role in this journey will be to document some of the stories from the orphanage and bring home a report to the churches and families in America that sponsor these children. Additionally, we will be bringing some much needed supplies, including baby formula absolutely is the difference between life and death for these newborn children and is impossible for the orphanage to get any other way.


The time is short, but my faith is great. I cannot come up with $3800 on my own in this amount of time, however it would only take 400 people giving $10 to make this happen. That's only half of the people on my Facebook friends list, and is a little act that will go a long way. More than half of this amount is needed for airfare and the tickets need to be purchased soon, or that amount will increase greatly.


If for some reason this goal is not reached, then whatever funds do come in will go directly to suport the orphanage. Additionally any money that comes in over and above this goal will also go directly to the orphanage.
