<div>The Underheugh Ark has been rescuing animals for 16 years with the last 9 as a registered charity.   Each year the amount of animals needing help has grown.   The Rescue has a good reputation for the care and help we provide but that success means we are inundated with requests to help animals and like every other rescue in the country we are at breaking point.

<div>We receive no Government funding and there are few grants now available from corporates and charities.   Despite the best efforts of our fundraisers and fantastic supporters we are again struggling to keep our heads above water looking after the animals we already have in our care let alone help more animals who are facing death in the stray pounds, slaughter houses or being taken to the vets by owners who can no longer cope with their pets.

<div>Our aim as a Rescue is to save the lives of as many animals as possible.  Currently we look after 88 dogs with 7 in emergency boarding waiting to come to us, 36 cats and 12 permanent on the farm including feral colony,  23 equines ,7 rabbits 102 guinea pigs, 2 Degu’s,  7 terrapins, 24 geese, 39 ducks,185 cockerels, 36 hens, 123 doves plus in our aviary 37 Budgies/ finches/ canaries/ cockatiels/parakeets.    Just the normal veterinary and food bills for these have gone through the roof without some of the more challenging health issues we discover along the way so our vets bills just this month are over £10000.

<div>As a small, independent rescue this is a massive financial struggle for us and whilst we want to be able to help more our  current outgoings far exceed what we are able to fundraise through our normal activities.
