Let's all put out for Regular Steve

Our good man of Match Game Belltown/Re-Bar and beyond, Regular Steve (Stephen Bray), is having a rough go and could use your help.

The short of it:

He needs a new liver.

The solution:

They won't give him a donor liver if he doesn't have proper post operative care network set up. This is an immense burden and is typically done by family. His sister is ready to take this on but she's in Nashville. Along with expenses once there in Nashville, and expenses in Seattle, the most urgent need is to get him to Nashville ASAP. Donation criteria has been rising as more and more people need liver transplants. Once he's eligible for a donor liver there will still be a wait. So we need to act quickly.

The long of it:

Stephen was plagued by a leg infection. The drugs used to fight the infection did a number on his liver. The doctors also say he was also prone to liver disease. Double whammy. As a result his liver is failing. He is facing life threatening complications and without a new liver these dangers compound daily.

What we can do:

The $5,000 goal is not expected to pay for the care he needs to get through this. But we can certainly get him to Nashville and provide some much needed comfort and support with 5k. It's a start. At this point every little bit goes a long way towards making things easier.

The Reality:

Without a new liver in less than a year he is not expected to make it.

What would be amazing:

To raise awareness beyond our peer group and establish the credibility of this cause so strangers will be comfortable donating. (I'm talking to you, journalist friends)
Many of us have seen how crowdsourcing causes in any sort of viral sense can compound how much money is raised in surprising ways and by surprising amounts. Which is a goal of this campaign because Steve's gonna need it. So share this link and be creative about where and how you share it. Thanks.
