Wheels That Heal

His pockets were full of friendships. He always had room for more.

Joel Ellingson's contagious smile disguised the pain. Some days I wonder if God had healed Joel of the cancer eating away at his body. He was actively working with his wife's children's ministry and holding down a job during his 5 year battle.

Joel went to his eternal reward on December 23, 2011 leaving behind a wife and two teenagers, Jordan and Kayli.

At the beginning of Joel's health turning to the worst his wife, Shari, developed a children's ministry, Gator Alley and Company, as a source of income for her and her family.

Shari continues to plant seeds from Joel's smiles in the hearts of kids all across the United States in libraries, schools, conventions, camps, and parks using her expert ventriloquist skills, illusions, games, songs, balloon sculptures, and puppets.

The crowd of children will fall to a hush as Shari shares what it means to have a broken heart. She shares the loss of her husband and how she deals with the pains and issues she and her children face daily. The kids learn about a loving God and how He cares for each of them. If you ever get the opportunity to attend, you will feel the power of her simple message and walk away changed.

When called on she doesn't have second thoughts about getting in her minivan to travel to Florida or Texas to help more children and adding more miles to its 500,000 mile history. She does find herself broken down here and there and scraping finances and creative solutions to getting back on the road.

The passion of the Wheels That Heal fund with your help is to see Shari and her family receive a new minivan.

It is sad to see what terrible broken hearted events some of our youngest children have to face, yet I am glad to know that Shari and the Gator Alley and Company with the help of God and your contribution are there to help heal each of them.
