Has the Arvada West Instrumental Program touched the life of someone who is near to your heart? Under the direction of Craig Melhorn, the Instrumental Music Program has become one of the most accomplished high school music programs in the area. The program impacts students through music appreciation, discipline, teamwork, time management and resilience. The department now offers 7 ensembles including:
Symphonic Band
Wind Ensemble
Jazz I
Jazz II
Concert Orchestra
String Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra
There are also several extra-curricular groups:
Marching Band
Pep Band
Winter Guard
String, Woodwind and Brass Quintets
Despite numerous state-wide and regional accomplishments, the program faces ongoing financial challenges. Only 25% of the entire program budget is covered by student fees. Mr. Melhorn understands the importance of music in a child’s life, so no child is ever turned away because of their family’s finances.
