Boots on the Ground in Haiti

Dear friends,

I have set up this Go-Fund-Me account to raise funds for The Beehive International, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Atlanta, GA.   My nephew, Jonathan Euler, is the Director of International Developement for The Beehive and has lived and worked in the country of Haiti full-time for almost six years.  His work includes a city property in Port-au-Prince which houses a woodshop called  "APallet of Work", as they build furniture out of recycled pallets.  He has 30 full-time Haitian employees who under his tooteledge have learned the skills of carpentry.  They are ready to help rebuild after the hurricane.  You can inspect their work at www.thebeehives.org.  Aside from the work being done in PAP The Beehive cares for 5 orphanages housing 120 children in the PAP area.  All of his construction and improvements to these orphanages can be viewed on the website.  As it should be - all fund raising done for the country of Haiti is under extreme scrutiny and the Go-Fund-Me organization is doing everything possible to make sure these funds reach the people of Haiti through trusted organizations who are actually going to use it for it's intended purpose.  These collected funds will be transferred weekly to The Beehive via Western Union and put to work almost immediately.

Now from Jonathan:
I remember years ago when a tornado hit the beautiful city of Dunwoody, GA.  The once beautiful trees were twisted right out of the ground and thrown onto houses, cars, and businesses along with telephone poles and hot electric wires.   My Dad immediately fired up our chain saws and took my brother and I right into that “war zone” to help.   I still remember the faces of the people – and they lived in an area where hundreds would come to help them with hot meals, drinking water, and medical supplies.

Haiti has really barely begun the recovery process of the 2010 earthquake and now this new devastation that some say is worse than the earthquake.  I have lived in Haiti full time for almost six years now and I  can only ask myself why our property in Port-au-Prince was spared from destruction.  The Lord put His hand over our woodshop, crops, solar panels, roof etc. so that we could be a part of this new restoration process.  We are literally "Boots on the Ground" ready to go with a full team of Haitian employees and the capability to help in all areas, the people of Haiti.  I lost one of my employees who has been with me for three years, for six days – Myriame.  Her family and extended family have lost everything.  Here is her story:

“I went to see my family in Jeremy close to Les Cayes, before the hurricane in a small village named Obak.  I was at my Grandmother’s house when it started to rain on Monday.  I heard on the news a big storm was coming but I did not know what to expect.  The sheriff in Jeremy started to evacuate on Monday afternoon but I could not leave my Grandmother alone and it was raining so hard.  Monday night the big storm came.  I was so scared – I didn’t know what was happening.  In a few minutes the storm took off the whole roof of my Grandmothers house.  When I tried to run I saw tin roofs and people’s belongings flying everywhere.  Close by I saw a home with a concrete roof so we ran there.  The house was full wall to wall with people who had also lost their roofs.  There were about 120 people all crushed together.  I spent 3 days in that house without sleeping, no water and just a little food.  I had money but I could not go anywhere to find food.  I remember what it says in the Bible that there will come a time like this.  I tried to call to Port-au-Prince but there was no signal because all the cell towers were destroyed in the storm.  My family has lost 12 houses where the roofs were destroyed.  They are now sleeping in schools and churches.  It is very difficult to find food and water.”

Many of you know my right hand man Mexny.  He rode 7 hours on a motorcycle to get to Jeremie and bring Myriame back to us.

The Beehive can help Myriame, her family, and other families in the area of Jeremie.  Without knowing it, we can now see that the Lord has been preparing us to be well equipped to help in this tragedy.  Help us to be one of the first responders – we are already here and ready to go – we only need the funds to purchase the needed materials.  Unlike years ago when I was a first responder after a tornado in my hometown it will take weeks and months for outside help to arrive in these remote towns.
