To SE Asia We Go - Orphan Summer Camp

So, I listened and heard the call. I am acting on God's call to me to "Go help". Help? Help what? My call was to go to South East Asia to help in a summer camp for orphans. We will be joining, side-by-side with the nannies of the orphanage to provide fun and fellowship to the children and staff. We will also be renovating the dark, outdated and very un-kidlike rooms in the orphanage.
I never really thought twice about adoption or orphan care. "Others" did that or would take care of the kids. Then, in December, David (my husband) and I partnered with our chuch (Journey Church, www.journeychurchsc.org) in the Love Gave Hope (www.lovegave.com) marathon event to raise funds and supplies for orphans in the Charleston area. We beat our goal of $100,000.00. In fact, we didn't just beat our goal, we smashed it - $113,284.89! It was during this event that my heart shifted. I cannot imagine a day going by that a child doesn't hear the loving words of a mother or father telling them "I love you". Or, simply receiving a loving hug or high five. In reality, too many children in this world wake up and go to sleep every day, day in and day out without so much as a word spoken to them, let alone being loved.
It was shortly there after that I heard the call. So, should I answer it? In short, ABSOLUTELY!
This is all totally outside of my comfort zone. But, it really isn't about me is it? It is about God and his love for all of us. Thank you for reading my story. We will do great things. It is God's will.
