RUHS UNIFORMS: A NEW ERA

Donation protected
Over thirty years ago, the RUHS band was outfitted with marching uniforms, thanks to the efforts of the community and dedicated supporters. The marching band at that time traveled often, performed with discipline and pride, and earned many awards and accolades. The members were proud to be a part of such an high-caliber group, and the band was the pride and joy of the town of Randolph.
The music program at Randolph has continued to grow and change with the times, and is now as vibrant as ever. The numbers of incoming music students each year continues to rise, as well as the number of students attending district and state honor festivals. The uniforms that the marching band currently uses are the same ones from over thirty years ago; they are outdated, worn, and incomplete. They do not properly represent the energy and enthusiasm the program embodies. This is a talented group of dedicated students, and they deserve to look as good as they sound when they perform.
Each year the band performs at the Vermont All State Parade, the Randolph Memorial Day and Fourth of July Parades, and other events representing RUHS, the town of Randolph, and the state of Vermont. Just this past fall, the RUHS Marching Band attended UMass Band Day at Gillette Stadium, in Foxboro, MA, where they joined with nearly 3,000 high school students to perform at halftime of a UMass football game. This event was inspiring for our students, and helped to encourage their sense of identity and pride as musicians. Donning new uniforms that give them a professional and cohesive look will only help continue the growth of their pride and identity as individuals, musicians, and representatives of their school and town. With this acquisition, attending these types of large-scale, out of state events will be more feasible simply because we will have a uniform the students can be proud to wear and represent RUHS.
Marching band is a tradition that is becoming increasingly rare in the state of Vermont, and is a valuable way to shape the character of adolescents through its rigorous demands, the duty of public service, and pride rewarded by their hard work. More so, the uniform and the band that wears it are an emblem and reflection of the character of the community it represents. Our community deserves to have a band that is looking its best as it performs around the state and region. Currently we are working to come up with the funding for this purchase.
We hope that the vision of a talented, hard-working marching band dressed in a classy, professional, and cohesive uniforms for decades to come is something that you might consider worthy of supporting for this and future members of the RUHS Marching Band. With deepest gratitude for your thoughtful consideration.
