Relief for Haïti

My name is Johanne Dorvilias and I want to do my part to help out my family and friends in my hometown of Petit Goave in Haiti. Although I now live in Seattle, I will always call Petit Goave home. Just a few days ago, Hurricane Matthew devastated many in my hometown, leaving them without food, water or even safe shelter. It breaks my heart to be so far from my family and my home when they need help the most. It is my mission to go back to Haiti and give back to my hometown by helping them recover from this disaster. I want to set up a soup kitchen to feed those in need while those in Petit Goave start the process of rebuilding. I am asking for your support to help fund my soup kitchen in Petit Goave. Every penny donated will go directly to providing food and supplies for my soup kitchen. As we saw after the devastation of the Earthquake in 2010, the relief effort was chaotic, devastating, and anything but coordinated. Many aid organizations were collecting donations to help with the relief efforts, but many in my hometown did not receive the benefit of those efforts or donations. That is why I feel compelled to be there in person and do what I can to help those in need. I love to cook and providing food to during this dark time is more than just providing much needed nutrition, it is also providing love and comfort when they need it most. With your support, my soup kitchen will provide the direct relief that the people of Petit Goave need and deserve right now.
