Zoey's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Only just a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending Zoey’s 6th birthday party. Family and friends were there getting excited to see her play on the trampoline, run around with friends, open her many presents and of course eat cake. It was everything a kid’s party should be and a lot of fun for her and her family. That day no one would have expected the battle that was ahead of her.

Zoey is strong, caring, funny, beautiful and very smart. It was devastating when her parents John and Kristi got the news that Zoey was diagnosed with Stage 3 Burkitts Lymphoma. It first started off as what seemed to be a sinus infection. Her nose continued to become more and more clogged. Not long after a lump formed on her neck. The doctor then requested her to go straight to Lutheran General Hospital where she has been having multiple tests, a biopsy, a lumbar puncture, and surgery to put a port in her chest for chemotherapy. Sadly, this is just the beginning of the hardships that will need to be faced.

Despite the battles that Zoey is facing at such a young age she is still remaining strong and keeping her spirits up. I strongly believe she is getting her strength from her parents who have not left her side. They have been rotating a schedule to take care of Zoey and their other daughter Lacey. Her mom Kristi has even been playing a pretend teacher, Ms. Samantha. Zoey loves Ms. Samantha and is able to keep up with her school learning from her hospital bed so she won’t fall behind. She clearly has amazing parents who will be there every step of the way to recovery. Her parents are not alone.  Zoey has a great team of doctors, nurses, family, friends, volunteers and a wonderful sister Lacey who also continues to help to make the process easier.

I am her moms best friend and I wanted to create a Go Fund Me Fundraiser for Zoey to help with the continuing battle that lies ahead. Zoey and Lacey need their parents support and love more than anything in this world right now.  They do not need their parents worrying about finances. The funds will go to an account for Zoey and be used to help cover her surgeries, medical stays and medical expenses. If we can all work together we can try to raise enough money so her parents can focus on what matters most, their two beautiful daughters.
