Jhaque Leong was our beloved Son, Grandson, Brother, Friend, Confidant and Protector. He was selfless, generous, thoughtful, hard working, and had the most genuine heart of anyone you could ever hope to meet.
Jhaque's talents knew no boundries. He was an accomplished, published Chemist, a competitive pool player, and a self-taught welder whose expertise exceeded his experience. Jhaque was like that though. He could teach himself anything - and he did.
Jhaque was taken from us far too soon in life, at the height of his life. He was only 29 years old when his life was cut short by a tragic car accident. As he drove to work on the morning of Friday, September 30, 2016, his car suddenly began to accelerate and continued to vere off of Deerfoot Trail South, with devastating results. Those who knew Jhaque well, knew how tired he had been lately. He worked so hard and took so much pride in his work ethic. Tragically, from all the evidence we have and what we knew, we believe he fell asleep while driving to work that day.
Jhaque was special. Anyone who knew him would attest to that. Jhaque was the light in our lives. His spirit was pure and his humble attentiveness to everyone else's needs was inspiring. It is with heavy hearts that we accept that he was taken from us before he lived out his full, unending potential, and work to design a Memorial fitting to his talents and to his generous heart; A place where everyone can go to remember him, recapture memories, and celebrate his life.
