The Virtual TCS London Marathon for MS Society

Tax deductible
Hi guys, On October 2nd I will be attempting to complete the London Virtual Marathon on crutches in aid of the MS Society. Along with the many runnners and walkers I'm expecting this to be quite a challenge. This is my story.

33 years ago my wife, Deb, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Despite numerous relapses over the years, she still managed to work. Commuting to and from Leeds using crutches until it became impossible. These days, Deb uses a wheelchair and has spent much of the last 3 years unable to leave her bed. It was at that time I became her full-time carer. I also started to run whenever possible, and joined my local running club, the wonderful Sowerby Bridge Snails. I made so many friends at the club. They give me tremendous encouragement and support. About 3 months ago, during a run, I noticed a twinge in my hip. I dismissed it as a pulled muscle however, the pain began to increase over time to the point where X-rays revealed I had Osteoarthritis in my right hip and most likely need hip replacement surgery. Obviously, I was devastated at this news, but I have tried to continue running as best I can. Then recently, I considered a challenge. I thought it through and went for it. I signed up to do the Virtual London Marathon. I will be taking on the 26 miles plus, on the Rochdale canal, on crutches. A will be using the same set that my wife, Deb, used to get by with when she could walk. I'm expecting this to be pretty tough, but I will be joined by other walking friends who will be giving me great support. If you would like to help me in raising support and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, I would be most grateful for any donations to my chosen charity, the MS society. Many thanks. Andy
