I am a retired senior sole proprietor with a homebased business with no employees. I am a seamstress, designing and sewing clothing and other items; jewelry making; small upholstery jobs; drapery, and also cooking/catering. I am also an inspirational speaker, which began as a cancer fighter and has emerged into support to COVID19 families who call me. There are some who describe me as a jack of all trades, but I love the description given by those who know me, “As the jack of all trades and the master of six.”
I am a cancer survivor and celebrated 10 years cancer free in May of this year. I have had a total of five surgeries since 2010, two for cancer and three for cancer prevention. I share my cancer story and other life challenges to help others with their own battles and concerns. I have other medical issues which I work through each day. Being able to work from home as a sole proprietor has been a blessing my given compromised health issues.
Yet, I still find the time to reach out and help someone else in stressful situations. I find comfort as well when I connect and help others.
I have always looked for ways to change any stress in my life to strength, but for the past three years I nearly gave all I had to help someone else, which included financial help to a degree that I forgot that I needed financial help myself. After this recognition that I needed financial help, I had a problem with too much pride to asked for any help.
Thanks to many of my friends and customers for reaching out and offering their support and financial help. They also encouraged me to start a GoFundMe page so that others can help as well. Their outreach is appreciated and will never be forgotten. I can stay strong because of your care for me. Thank you.
Then along came Covid-19. I lost the income I would have received from designing and making proms, wedding gowns and alterations. I am now faced with a perilous situation my personal cash reserve has dwindled to next to nothing. I am doing everything in my power like making masks and memory bears to generate funds, but it’s an uphill climb. I need help right away. COVID-19 has made it hard for many people like me, but I will not give up.
With your support I will be able to change gears again in my life. I will use the funds to cover the debt accumulated from the loss of income. I have purchased equipment and IT support so that I can establish an online presence to sell masks, bears and other items I make. I will also, setup a safe environment for in-house alteration appointments. I will continue to make masks and other PPE to donate to our first responders! In my community and other states.
I have put my pride aside and humbly ask for your help.
