Right2Dream Too Breakfast, Portland
"Kitchen Warfare: For Chefs, Cooks and BOH Staff Everywhere", a Facebook group, was started in November 2015, by Chef Skye Van Schetsen. Originally a place for chefs from around the world to support each other, talk through recipes and plating ideas, and blow off some steam, Kitchen Warfare has now also become a place where core members talk about ways to give back to their communities.
Last April, members of this international group of chefs converged upon the Right 2 Dream Too Unhoused Community rest site at West Burnside and NW 4th in Portland to serve breakfast 150 members of the city's homeless population and the R2DreamToo staff.
On Saturday, October 29th, we're going to do it again.
We'll receive some help from the local community, but I'm hoping that friends here can help give us a head start in raising the funds needed to buy enough food to serve even more people this time around. Our fundraising goal of $500 will go entirely towards purchasing food.
If you've been following my personal journey at all, you know that the challenge of hunger and food insecurity in this country is a cause that is very close to my heart. I sincerely hope that if it's within your means to do so, you'll find it in your heart to give us a hand in making this project the best it can be for the citizens of the Right 2 Dream Too camp.
