Willie B Hatcher WWII Home Coming

Donation protected
The Willie B. Hatcher American Legion Post 516 was established at 13 April 1953 as a temporary chapter. The Post was formally chartered at 11 March 1985.   Post 516 was named after Willie B. Hatcher a Henry County resident.

Mr. Hatcher was drafted into the United States Army during 1941. He was subsequently assigned to the 97th Engineer General Support Group located at Manila, Philippines. He attained the rank of Technician Fifth Class while on active duty, and was killed in action on November 1, 1944.  Mr. Hatcher is interned at the United States Manila American Cemetery located at Manila, Philippines.  Mr. Hatcher was the first Henry County citizen to fall during World War II.   American Legion Post 516  would like to honor and give Mr. Hatcher a proper thank you for what he has done  by bringing his remains back home so his remains can be close to family, friends and those of us appreciate the fact he served and died.  Not a Henry County's citizen or a member of his family has been to visit his grave.

If you want to donate but feel uncomfortable doing so through Go Fund Me, please send donations to American Legion Post 516, P.O. Box 605, McDonough, GA 30253.  Checks can be made out to the American Legion Post 516 and earmarked for the Willie B. Hatcher fund.  Any donations will be so appreciated.
