Joseph Jackson, Jr. Funeral

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Joseph Jackson, Jr. a man of faith, giving, and so much love! He passed away on March 28th after a long, painful illness.  He did fight though--he gave it everything he had in him, but the pain was just too much.  A few days ago he summoned his family to ask that we let him go.  He opted to go off all life saving medications and measures.  He was kept comfortable with pain medication until he drifted off to sleep with the angels.  It was one of the bravest things I've ever witnessed.  That was how he died.

Now let me tell you how he lived! He lived for his God, children, family, friends and work in that order!  This is his middle sister Joanne  writing this.  When we were young kids, if this boy didn't get on my last nerve...LOL!  He was sooooo bad.  Of course he was mom's favorite so he got away with everything.  I would never imagine how much my heart would swell with love and admiration for him as we grew into adulthood.  He was the best brother we could have asked for.  We lost our oldest and youngest years ago, so he was our last, our only and everything.  Guess what.  He lived up to it--not only for us, but also his friends.  He would literally give you the shirt off his back.  If you needed it and he had it--you'd get it.  Simple as that.  He loved the Redskins, family get togethers, working--never missed a day until he got sick, and keeping up with his Facebook community.

We are trying to raise money to bury our brother, father, uncle, friend.  He literally had no savings, no insurance...nothing left.  He worked in the shoe repair business for 40 years for employers who offered him no benefits or retirement.  His long illness without any sick leave left him with nothing, no income, no place to live, lost everything.  You'd never know it though because he never complained.  He continued to pray for us each day until he was too weak to do it.  He prayed for EVERYBODY EVERYDAY and his Facebook friends will attest to that!  He ended each post with "I LOVE YOU ALL!!"

We will be using the funds we raise for a casket, funeral package, opening/closing grave, repast expenses, incidentals for the church, pastor, singers, etc.  He told us what he wanted.  Just as he was in life--he asks for nothing flashy, nothing expensive, just a simple homegoing to be with his Lord, our mom and two brothers.
