FIGHTING EVERY DAY!!!!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Lisa Rhodes and I've been close friends with Susan Meeks for over 20 years now. I have watched Susan suffer through many trials and tribulations. October 2010, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. We were scared that she wouldn't make it through surgery due to her size. She made it and also went through chemo for months to make sure all the cancer was gone.

Susan lost her mom, her best friend in June of 2011. Losing her mom really took a toll on Susan. She basically gave up on life and her body started shutting down. She became homebound and was unable to get up and down the stairs and at the very end she was not able to get up off the sofa. She had to call the EMS to come out and assist her in getting up. I knew Susan was dying and I reached out to friends, family and outsources to help her. She ended up going to the hospital where she almost lost her life.

In October 2011, she had a 30% to live and was on 3 forms of life support! For two weeks, she laid dying in ICU unconscious::. just lying there having machines keep her alive. She was on a ventilator for months. She had to learn everything over again::.how to walk, go up and down stairs, breath on her own and be able to eat solid foods. Susan beat all odds and after being in the hospital for 4 months she was able to come home and walk up her stairs.

A year later and 300 lbs. lighter, October 2012, the colon cancer, which we thought was gone, has metastasized to her lungs and brain. She had brain surgery and they removed the tumors and she underwent radiation. After radiation, she started chemo for the cancer in her lungs. She goes weekly and spends all day Monday's getting treatment. Every other week she leaves with a bag of chemo and returns on Wednesday to have the bag removed. This makes her VERY sick and not able to do much. The treatment is working and the tumors are shrinking!!!! We are hoping and praying for remission:::::

She is trying her best to fight this beast into remission but life is throwing her so many curves it gets harder each day to continue to strive to live. She lives daily with the stress of not having enough money to survive and how she's going to pay the bills she has coming in:. She not able to focus on getting better or fighting for her life with the weight of all these burdens on her shoulders.

Susan receives $471 a month to live on. Out of this money she has to pay her car insurance of $119.00, her power bill that runs anywhere from $80 a month to $450.00 (in the summer time), gas bill which averages around $90 a month, water averages about $30 a month. Phone/cell phone bill is $70.00. These are the amounts it would be monthly if she was able to pay on time. She's not able to do so, so there's monthly fees connected to this along with reconnection fees from things being cut off. She went without hot water and heat for a week the last time her gas was turned off. *******This is just for her utilities******* It does not include gas for going back and forth to chemo, food to eat, parking for chemo or any medicine that she needs. She has actually cut out going to the gym because of the expense of gas going back and forth! If any of you know Susan, SHE NEEDS THE GYM!!!! The GYM is her lifeline.

Susan's house is in need of repairs and needs a lot of TLC. A/C work, insulation, plumbing and lots of little things. All these issues are very overwhelming to someone who is fighting for their life. There has been many times that she's told me that she'd be better off if she just gave up and lost this battle. Then she wouldn't have anything to worry about or where she was going to get the money to cover her bills and medicine.

I'm asking you today for your help, whether it's financially or volunteering your services. If you would be willing to help please let us know. If you would like to donate your service then we would be greatly appreciative! We need your help and nothing is too small or not enough!!! At this point, every little penny:..YES PENNY, helps her!!!!!
