Prosthetics Can Cost More Than Cars!

Hey there! This is my husband, Gabriel. He was born with spina bifida. He has had over 11 surgeries in his life for his back and his ankle. He has not been able to feel from the knees down since he was in his teens (though his best friends like to say from the neck down), so that didn't help when he would walk on the side of his foot shattering bones & destroying his ankle. Due to complications with blood clotting, charcot & the many attemptions to save his leg... he elected to have it amputated. He chose to live rather than allow his leg to kill him. His choice was easy based on the fact that he has a (now) 14 year old daughter he wants to watch grow up. & Yes that's the shortened version of the story. The other hilarious version is "he lost his leg in the divorce settlement" which as you know is half off the usual "arm & a leg". The prosthetic shown above was around 7k, his new one was closer to 21k... like i said in the title, they are not cheap & he has the basic models that don't come with cruise control, power anything or A/C! He has been wanting to start a gofundme for a while, and why not at this point?! So any amount you can contribute would be very helpful! Insurance does NOT assist with the bill because it's a "luxury" i guess to walk. It is also "unnecessary" to have a prosthetic to get around & work either... this has been a LOOONNGG learning process of what is worthy of help & what is not. Being "disabled" for him is not always laughs and jokes, although it does lighten the mood & help make others more comfortable asking questions & treating him just like anyone else. It is hard to prove that certain things are needed to live a close to normal life for anyone in the differently abled community.
