Hello my name is Jason Hill and I am doing this for a friend and previous co-worker. I am seeking donations for this family so the financial burden of beating cancer is one less thing they need to worry about. Presently she has no idea I am setting this up for her and her daughter, Rachel. I am hoping that there are plenty of kind souls out there that can help make this long journey for this family a bit less stressful.
At age 17, a loving sister and beautiful daughter, Rachel started a huge journey. Not just the kind of journey a teenage girl usually has; homeschooled, hanging with friends, going to the beach, working and making her own money, shopping and even the freedom to drive anywhere she wants. Rachel has to add to her journey enduring years of cancer treatment at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Rachel was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma on April 5, 2013. It started out one Wednesday on a visit to the dermatologist. Rachel had a small bump on her head about the size of a quarter; the dermatologist scheduled a simple procedure to remove it believing it was just a cyst. Once the doctor was about to remove the cyst he noticed it looked abnormal. Specimens were immediately taken and the pathologist report came back positive for cancer called Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Rachel's life immediately changed forever. Now this 17-year old girl will be going through extensive Chemotherapy treatment for the next 2-years of her teen life.
Rachel's support system poured in tons of positivity and love. Rachel's attitude has been amazing. You would think like any teenager she would be mad, sad or even cranky but Rachel is an amazing girl. Everyday there is something new that Rachel has to endure due to the side effects of the steroids and the Chemotherapy but her cheery attitude, caring doctors and loving support system have been getting her through this challenging time.
I am hoping to meet and exceed the goal I set, but in all honesty anything will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced and here is to hoping that everything works out positively in the end. I will post regular updates as this fundraiser gets off the ground.
