A Miracle for Marley

Sweet Marley dug his way out and ran away from home during a thunderstorm on 3/17/18. He is 8 years old and has been a part of the Hernandez Family since he was 10 weeks old.

He was found on 3/18/18 by animal control. Marley was hit by a car and has several injuries. He was taken to Happy Tails emergency vet for x-rays, bloodwork, IVs, cleaning of abrasions and close medical monitoring. Marley was found to have a dislocated right coxofemoral joint, fracture of the left ischium and right pubis, and a hair line fracture of the left ilium. Imaging also showed loss of serosal detail of the cranial abdomen, stomach moderately filled with ingesta , small intestines filled with a mild amount of gas and colon filled with feces. He also sustained eye injuries and multiple abrasions all over his body.

Once stable, he was transferred to the Guilford County animal shelter on 3/19/18 where Lucinda saw his picture online and her son went to confirm it was their Marley. His care has been transferred to their local vet, Americana Animal Hospital. He will need surgery to fix his orthopedic injuries, but for now is being monitored closely. He will need to be medically stable before the operation can be safely performed, which they are hoping will be in the next few days. His first night at Americana was a rough go but he did make slight improvement by this evening taking a few bites of food.

Lucinda Hernandez is not only Marley's owner, but a WONDERFUL teacher at St. Pius X catholic school, involved church member and loving Mother and Grandmother. It is my hope we can all ralley around Marley and Lucinda to make the coming days and weeks easier on them as Marley fights to recover.
