On Monday, October 18th, my high school friend Jim Crowther found himself in crisis.
Jim has Multiple Sclerosis and spends much of his time in a wheelchair. He has worked for himself most of his life and recently left an abusive relationship, leaving him alone with his beloved Boxer and two kitties.
Jim’s father was helping him, financially, and led him to believe there would be sufficient funds for his wellbeing after he died. On October 18th, Jim’s father died and left him nothing. His family situation worsened, as his beloved sister blocked him out of her life. Sadly, his children are not in any position to help.
Unable to work (though researching options for someone in his condition), he finds himself facing homelessness on December 1, 2019. He has scant sources of income through Social Security disability and, because he worked for himself, did not benefit from the employer match for FICA.
My intention for this fundraiser is to raise enough to get Jim out of Fight, Flight or Freeze (he’s paralyzed by fear) and give him enough security to breathe and figure out a solution for the long term. All of this happened so fast, Jim hasn't had the time to fully wrap his mind around his new reality, so helping to assure he does not become homeless is of utmost urgency.

Even during the best of times, we are all susceptible to the uncertainty and impermanence that is life. Jim is my friend from high school. We have kept in touch through FB and I even got to see him over a decade ago. Time and distance have not diluted the basic human connection that we share. Let's show Jim he is not alone.
With your generous donation, Jim will get to see his granddaughter grow up. I hope you can see yourself somewhere in his story and know that it is our story.
