Car for Veteran

I am trying to raise funds for a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam Era to help her purchase a vehicle. I have known Carolyn since 2004. As long as I have known her, she selflessly volunteers in the Veteran Community on a day to day basis. This Veteran works tirelessly for Veterans in Milwaukee, WI and across the United States without asking for anything in return. She is a Life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, National Association of Black Veterans, AMVets, and has held leadership positions in said organizations. She is a member of Women In Memorial Service To America. She has been active in many civic and community organizations over her lifetime since her Honorable discharge from the Army. She receives telephone calls, texts and emails from veterans every day asking for assistance. She has been a strong advocate for veterans, especially women veterans, at risk and homeless veterans and has traveled to Washington D.C. to testify and lobby in Congress at her own expense. She gives rides to veterans who have no money and no way to reach their destination or need assistance whether it be for medical care, V. A. claims, Social Security benefits or grocery shopping. This veteran has visited homeless shelters to further access their needs and direct them toward self-sufficiency. Because of all her advocacy and volunteerism, she was nominated and selected as Milwaukee County Veteran of the Year in 2009. Carolyn epitomizes what it means to selflessly serve veterans with outstanding dedication, honor and concern for them.

Carolyn works diligently day and night to help veterans in need. Their requests may be as simple as listening to them regarding a problem they are having to helping with a big issue such as housing, filing a claim, appealing a claim, death in family, chronic illness, etc. She provides valuable support and encouragement in a non-judgmental way to veterans near and far. She has even assisted military personnel stationed in other countries. She refuses no request, no matter where it is from. This veteran is most deserving and in need of a new vehicle to continue helping others who cannot help themselves. Carolyn has long been making a difference in the community and in the lives of all she assists. In essence, she gives HOPE to many people, not just veterans who have totally given up on life but to civilians as well. The list of individual things this veteran performs is too lengthy to list. However, a list will be provided upon request.

In addition to all the Veterans Carolyn helps, she also helps her brother by managing his finances, paying all help obligations, buying his food and other household needs. By doing this, her brother is able to live independently and will not have to go into a group home. Because of Carolyn's unwavering love of family she pushes herself to drive 2 hours every other week to make sure her bother has what he needs.

Please help Carolyn continue to help others.

An amount of $ 20,000 is needed to purchase a vehicle to allow Carolyn to continue her work in helping those in need who call upon her for one on one assistance. Her 2006 PT Cruiser is 14+ years old. It has a rattle that is scaring her. A rear window is covered in plastic.

The window repair would be $350.00 but the motor assembly needed to repair it cannot be found. Cooler weather is upon us and winter is around the corner. Her A/C hasn’t worked in three years. She needs that for her Asthma and sensitive airway disease. Car parts are scarce due to the age of the vehicle. It needs brakes, tires, battery, engine maintenance and a few other repairs that she can’t afford. This PT Cruiser is at the point where the cost to repair would better be spent on a newer vehicle. We've all been there. Covid-19 has not helped her finances. If you can’t donate, please say a prayer for this veteran is obtaining a new car. Anything helps. Thank you.
