Matt's medical fund

On April 20th, 2016, my family received some devastating news.  After being sick for weeks with what the doctors treated as a sinus infection, my brother, Matt Scarlett, went in for routine surgery to drain two abscesses, believing that was the source of his illness.  However, the doctor found that Matt had two golf ball size tumors that they were able to remove, but his sinus cavity was impacted with several more tumors that could not be removed due to being so close to the airways.  Tests on the tumors revealed that he has a rare and aggressive form of Lymphoma. 


As a result, they have referred him to UT Medical Center in Memphis, which is about an hour from their home.  The treatment for this type of cancer is very aggressive and he will be at the hospital in  Memphis for at least six weeks.  As a result, this means he will be out of work during all that time.  While Matt is in Memphis, his wife Heather will have to be traveling back and forth quite often taking care of their children and working as much as she can given the situation.  


Matt is a fighter and nine years ago he won his first battle with cancer. Matt, Heather and their three beautiful children now have deal with this fight again.  The stress of dealing with the treatments trying to save Matt's life are going to be tough.  The financial stresses that go along with it only compound the matter.  Especially for a family that was just getting back on their feet from the first battle with cancer. This is going to be a lengthy and costly process.  Thankfully, Matt has insurance, but his insurance will not cover the trips to Memphis, lodging, and food for Heather and the kids.  I post this to all of Matt's friends and family that wish to assist Matt and his family in this situation.   Please keep his family in your prayers!
