Fund a Foto - Tanzania Immersion 2013

This year in June, I, along with nine other boys and two teachers from my school St Ignatius College, will be embarking on a two week trip to Tanzania. We will spending time in Dar Es Salaam with the Luhunga Parish, who have established a school to provide a second chance to kids who are without family and have been left to fend for themselves on the streets. It is a school staffed by volunteer locals who are trained as teachers to facilitate the curriculum. The school's only resources are three teachers and chalk.
In 2011, I went on holidays to Africa with my family. One of the best experiences on this trip was when we visited a village in Malawai. The people were very poor and made their living by fishing on the lake. During this visit I had my Polaroid camera and I decided to take some photos of the local children to give to them. You can see from the photo above just how excited the kids were to get a photo of themselves. I was swarmed. So I have decided to take my Polaroid camera again to take photos of the kids we will be working with in Dar Es Salaam.
The money that I am asking you to donate will fund the purchase of film to take photos of the children and also to fund some of the Immersion's other goals. This year we hope to take some laptop computers that will allow the school to teach what was once a distant dream; a computer skills course. We will also provide funds to continue a food programme, supply more educational resources and recruit another teacher. However these aims require your help. The community knows it is not us alone, but the kindness of the people's charity working Jesus' mission. Please assist us in our plight to improve the life of others, especially these youth in need.
And of course, when I get back I will send you some photos so you can see the joy your generosity has brought them. Many thanks for any assistance you can offer.
