Medical Expense for Florencio Najar

"We rise by lifting others" --Robert Ingersoll

There are times in a person's life when they need a helping hand.  Not one person has gotten to the point they are without help from someone.  Our father, husband, grandpa and friend needs our help.  Here's a little background…

In May of 2014, Florencio "Frito" Najar was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver.  He was shortly sent to San Antonio to be seen by a specialist.  While there, they discovered that his red blood cells were not reproducing properly.  This of course didn't pair well with his already diminishing liver and added more damage.  After a few days of tests, Frito was released and put on a strict diet.

After a year of being diagnosed, "Frito" was doing well.  He was still able to work, check things off of Mary's "Honey Do List" around the house and loving and living life.  "Frito" was his funny humorous self; laughing and making jokes as we all know him to do.  Fast forward to January 2016,  things started to take a turn for the worse. "Frito' began losing energy to conduct his normal daily activities.  Even though it was a struggle, he still got up and managed to go to work every day.  He continued to fight.  Every month called for more and more blood work.  Yet the doctors were not able to find anything wrong.  Then Jaundice or yellowish coloring of the skin due to poor liver function started to set in.

By March 2016, "Frito" had begun to lose muscle mass in his legs and arms.  At this point, he's back at square one.  Tests and more tests to try and figure out what can be done.  He's put on the transplant waiting list.  Some may think that once a person is on the waiting list it's a fast process from that point.  It's really not.  It can be a slow process and is based on the Model For End-Stage Liver Disease or MELD.  Scores range from 6 to 40, of course 40 being the worse.  As of today, "Frito" is a 20.

The purpose of this account is account is to assist the Najar household.  With "Frito" not able to work and provide, you can only imagine what toll that takes on a family.  We all know "Frito" as a hardworking man.  He does not ask for help.  No, that's not his way.  So we, his family, ask for whatever help anyone can spare.  His medicines as you may know is not cheap.  Insurance, 401k and resources are being sought out to help as well.  Along with close family and friends.

We rise by lifting others.  Everyone that has read this, has more than likely been helped or assisted by "Frito" in some way at some point.  Let's do the same and rise up for him.   We thank you for your time and consideration…
