Honduras Mission Trip

Donation protected
My name is Tyler Thompson, and I have been receiving training and education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) for three years. I now have the opportunity through the school to put my hard work to use by ministering to the people of El Cerron, Honduras during my spring break (March 10--March 16). SWBTS is partnering with International Mission Builders (IMB) missionaries in the area, and the goal of our trip will be to come alongside the workers already there and help them accomplish the goals they are striving towards for the glory of God. Their primary needs are:

(1) Training Local Pastors. Our work on this front will be exponentially beneficial. The Honduran church leaders are eager to edify the body of Christ in their area, so when we encourage and teach them we are essentially impacting everyone in their sphere of influence.

(2) Building Rapport with the Community. The missionaries working in this area already have a good relationship with the people around them, but they strive to show more and more how much they care for their home in Honduras. If we can help them in any practical ways (i.e. fixing someone's leaky roof), then we will take advantage of that opportunity.

(3) Establishing Connections. This is where we will help on the frontlines of their mission. We will trek with them to some of the mountainous villages in the region and find gatekeepers who will be able to open the door to future church plants.

Of course, in all of this, I expect to learn from the missionaries, the Honduran believers, and the Scriptures as God speaks through all of these sources. I am excited for this opportunity to obey the commission of Christ by making disciples and serving the people of Honduras.

Now for the nitty gritty. This trip is estimated to cost $1,400. And I will need to place a deposit of $300 soon: October 14. And 50% of the cost ($700) will be due shortly after that.

Why $1,400? What does it cover?

The money is primarily for airfare. This (along with other travel fees) will be the largest cost of the trip. But it also covers lodging and meals. Also included is traveler's insurance (just in case things get crazy).

However, all of this considered, the money is ultimately being used to advance the Gospel Kingdom

Thank you, for any donations you give to enable me to go to Honduras as a minister of the gospel, but I appreciate your prayers even more.
