Support Sara's Fight Against Cancer

This past April my mom, Sara Wilson, was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a rare form of blood cancer. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Sara knows how her smile and warmth can fill a room. It is honestly a blessing to know my caring, devoted, selfless mom, and none of this has changed since her diagnosis.

 Although my mom has been in and out of the hospital over the past seven years due to complications from a blood clot in her portal vein, her recent diagnosis has changed everything for our family. Unfortunately, Sara’s health has been rapidly deteriorating over the past few months. The only possible treatment and chance at a full recovery is an incredibly risky bone marrow transplant.  

 With over a month of chemo/radiation, a bone marrow transplant not fully covered by the medical insurance, plus six to twelve months of intense recovery during which my mom will be unable to work, we are looking at a very tough year, both emotionally and financially.

This upcoming year will not be easy, but it will be a fight against cancer we can go through together. My brothers and I are asking you to join us us for two reasons.  First and foremost, we would like to have our mom in our lives for many, many years to come, and this bone marrow transplant is our only chance to save her life.  Also, as three kids in our twenties, we cannot financially support our mother on our own.  All donations will go directly to paying for medical bills as well as the monthly bills for the house, groceries, and transportation.
