Frasia's Lyme Disease Cure

I am coordinating this effort on behalf of Frasia's mom, Linda Dunville, who works with my husband. Linda is a beautiful spirit who loves life, people, and the elementary students she works with at The Steward School. I'm doing it because if it were my child with a medical condition that could possibly be cured, I'd want someone to offer to help me. I think, though, that Frasia and Linda put more light on this so I've put their stories below to give you more info on what is needed and why.
In a nutshell, Frasia is a 40 year old woman who has been unable to do much of anything for the past 10 years because of the Lyme Disease that has taken over her body. There is medical treatment available that may give her the chance to work again, play again, and be independent again, but it is expensive and not covered by insurance. Because of that, I am helping Linda to get the funds needed for Frasia to receive the treatments. Please share this page and please contribute if you are able. Any amount. Frasia's story: It has been a long journey.
In 2005, I was on the Rappahannock River visiting my grandmother who was very ill. That is when I was bitten by a very sick tick. I didn’t have any symptoms until about a year later. I began with random fevers and chills followed by a host of other ailments. After three years of multiple doctors and multiple diagnoses I found out I had Lyme disease. By this time is was chronic. I have been under treatment from a Lyme-literate doctor for the last seven years, including two pic lines, each lasting over nine months. I am better, and I am grateful, but I have a long way to go to become healthy and get my life back again. During this process my mother took off six months from her job to nurse me through the second pic line. Because I did not improve significantly enough to return to work, I had to separate from my job (that I loved), and ultimately had to let go of my home in Charlotte in order to move back home with my parents. I feel so fortunate to have a family that loves me and supports me in many ways, but I miss my independence.
My body has been compromised by multiple, heavy antibiotics and multiple medications for pain. Recently, I found a clinic in Arizona that offers treatments to help rid my body of the Lyme and its vast toxins. Unfortunately it is expensive and does not take insurance. The protocols they offer are not offered on the east coast…they are progressive and open-minded and exciting. I have been searching for this type of therapy for the last few years. In November I turned 40 and realized that I have been fighting this disease for a decade. I am ready for the next step, the step that will bring back my health and my life.
I am not bitter or depressed. I know that this journey was for a reason. Even though my background is in nursing, I now have a better understanding of chronic illness and the effects it has, not only on your body, but on family and with your friendships and relationships. I feel I have an opportunity to be better, even well again, and I am ready. I am ready to start a-new, to find health and happiness and follow my dreams.

Linda's story: From a mother’s perspective.
My daughter’s wardrobe consists of pajamas. She used to be obsessed with shoes, now it is whether to buy flannel or cotton. Frasia has been ill with Lyme disease for 10 years. I want her better and productive and independent, she wants that, too. Typically she sleeps…or rests all day. She normally gets up around 7:00 p.m to begin her day…yes, I did say 7:00 p.m.. To say her body clock is off would be an understatement. Of course, this has altered her life…she is not up during the normal work day so she needs help with her appointments and errands and communications. I go with her to doctor appointments. I take her on errands. For me, it is a step back in time, I feel like I am running carpool again.
Frasia has always been independent and focused. She helped work herself through college…she earned a BSRN from MCV and moved to Charlotte to work at Presbyterian Hospital. She was offered a job in medical sales and took it. Before Frasia got Lyme her days were crazy-busy. She traveled throughout the Carolinas working with her doctors in the OR. She was happy and successful, and I was so very proud of her.
She has been through unbelievable procedures battling Lyme and she is better, just not better enough. The fatigue and sleeplessness she suffers from are unrelenting and her pain is only relieved with heavy medication. Unfortunately she suffers from Chronic Lyme and it is a nightmare to overcome…but there is new hope on our horizon. We have found a clinic in Arizona that offers treatments that we feel would benefit her case (IV oxidative therapies, IV UVB, IV heavy metal detox, IV vitamin C treatments, etc.). The tricky part of Lyme is that everyone is different…different symptoms…different protocols that work…different outcomes. This clinic offers a multitude of therapies, since there is no one silver bullet. They have a great success rate with treating Lyme patients. We would like to be part of that success.
Our obstacles are time and money. We are working with the clinic to be able to begin treatment soon…that just leaves the hard part. We all have our crusades; this is mine as a mother.
