Hi, my husband and I have close friends whose three year old daughter, Elise Morales-Sikes was diagnosed with Leukemia AML on October 3, 2012. Her treatment began with three rounds of chemo-therapy with little or no progress. On March 16, 2013, Elise received a bone marrow transplant. After weeks of being in and out of the hospital since the transplant, Elise came down with the CMV virus on April 23, 2013. At this point Elise is fighting for her life with many uncertainties. She is currently on life support and unconscious as she continues to fight the virus which is taking over her lungs. With uncertainties looming, the doctor is seeking permission nationally to perform a procedure where they give her a blood transfusion from a deceased patient with strong immunities to the virus. The procedure has not been attempted before and not much is known about it.
Update: We have just received word that the blood transfusion procedure for Elise has been approved at the national level. The family is awaiting approval from Kosair to go ahead with the procedure. Please keep Elise in your prayers.
Update: Elise had the procedure done at 11a today.
Update: The procedure for Elise, has started to work, the cells from the deceised woman that were trained to fight the cmv virus that Elise has, have started killing the cmv virus in her body. Her cmv virus count on Saturday was 17million. & we have just found out that the count has dropped to 820,000! This is the best day for all of us. Thank lord for this miracle!
Update 5/3/2013: Little Elise body is shutting down their not giving her much time! Please pray if it's God's Will for a miracle to heal her body and comfort the family the process.
Update 5/3/2013: Elise Morales-Sikes went to be with Jesus at 11:45 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013. It was a beautiful passing witnessed by 40 or so people. While this is a trying time, the family has no doubts that they are loved. Thank you so much for your prayer and support.
Right now as we speak, we are looking for a Miracle. If you are seeing this, we would appreciate your earnest prayers at this time, whether you are able to give or not.
If you are able to give, we would appreciate any donation that you can provide to offset medical bills and time off work during this time. My husband and I are not rich by any means, but we will match one penny for every dollar that is raised up to five-hundred dollars and yes we would love to raise fifty-thousand dollars. With the exception of the 5% fee for using this site, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Moreles-Sikes family.
