Deja fight to remission

Donation protected
Deja was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when she was seventeen. She had her first surgery which removed half her colon, her appendix and six inches of large intestine. Since then the goal was to reach remission. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, Deja has never reached remission. She has visited the emergency room numerous time and the majority resulted in her being admitted. In the last year, she has been hospitalized six times with a minimum stay of four days. Deja is currently in the hospital waiting to have surgery to remove the remainder of her colon and some of her small intestine which will result in her having to live her life with an ileostomy (surgical formation of an artificial anus by connecting the ileum to an opening in the abdominal wall). The doctors have stated that they have exhausted all medical management and this surgery is the only option for Deja to have any quality of life. She has also developed skin issues as a result of Crohn's that has affected her scalp. Deja will also have to undergo a surgical procedure to lance the lesions on her scalp which will require her to shave off her hair. While Deja has struggled with this disease for six years; she has managed to maintain a 3.0 GPA while majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science. She has acquired a large amount of hospital bills throughout the last six years and she has held as many as two jobs to attempt to take care of her obligations. This surgery will take her out of work and school for awhile. Our goal to to relieve her of as much stress as possible. We thank you for help and support in doing so.
