Hello Everyone, We need your help!! let me start by telling you a little about me and my sister. We both have been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and are in the need of medical treatment. Doctors here in Illinois know nothing about Chiari. This has left us with no option but to have to travel to get some answers and proper medical treatment.
April - my story starts with me as a child being extremely sick at times. They never could figure out what was wrong with me. Now I know what it was, it was pancreatitis. I still get very sick from this and will be seeing a specialist at Mayo clinic. I became extremely sick in November 2017. I thought I was having a stroke and went to the ER. Come to find out I have Chiari Malformation 1. they also believe I have Multiple Sceloris. Chiari and MS mimick each other but also can go hand in hand. At this point I still don't have definite answers and that's why I am going to Mayo. I could bore you with all of my systems but I won't;) I will just say this, pancreatitis is one of the most painful things ever!! Then add everything from the Chiari. I wouldn't wish my health on anyone!
Katrina - I too have Chiari Malformation but my symptoms are somewhat different from my sister's. I am now disabled and unable to work due to this . There are many days that I can't even get out of bed due to the pain. My symptoms is a list a mile long! I applied for disability but still have no answers as to whether or not I will be approved and this could take a very long time. I can not express how bad I am needing to get to Mayo Clinic. I honestly feel like Chiari is slowly killing me!!!!
Mayo clinic has scheduled us together at the end of May. They said to expect to be there 5-7 business days for testing, doctor visits and etc. Financially we can not afford this trip. Travel expenses which will include 2 new tires on the truck and fix an oil leak. We would like to pull our camper up there because it would be alot cheaper than a hotel and we would be more comfortable. Once we get there we will have even more expenses.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!! We absolutely hate to even ask for help but at this point we are desperate.
