Evan's Summer Internship at SOAR

Hello to all friends and family! I am excited to announce that this summer I will be interning as as field instructor for an organization called SOAR! SOAR's mission is to bring kids suffering from ADHD, Aspergers, and LD together for a chance to enjoy weeklong trips through the Great Outdoors. Trips range from scuba exersions in the Florida Keys to backpacking expeditions in the Blue Ridge Mountains. As an intern in North Carolina's program I will be leading groups of 15-30 kids on expeditions consisting of backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, mountain biking, high ropes courses and whitewater rafting. This is a very big step in furthering my career and am very excited to be a part of it. Unfortunately, as an Appalachian State student, I am required to pay a Summer tuition consisting of $2000 in order to receive credit for the internship. In other terms, I am having to pay the school in order to work.... The Recreation Management program is one of the only majors that is required to do this which is why I am asking for $1500 while also having worked my butt off the past month to raise the other $500.
